1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

Have you ever done something to someone you are not proud of? I know that is a dumb questions as we have all done or said something that we later regretted.  Something that we may not recognize is how easy it is for us to forgive strangers or aquantiences yet the ones we love the most seem harder to forgive or release from the pain inflicted.

What the heck?  Someone I love has hurt me and I want to wallow in unforgivingness?  What is that all about?  Well our verse today shares the why…Satan wants to create a stronghold in your life, and mine, to divide us from the ones that God has placed in our lives to build us up and keep us connected.  If Satan can divide families and close friends he is able to make us feel isolated and alone.  The Bible is full of words of warning to believers.  The battles we face are “…not flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Emphasis 6:12)  You see Satan can only enter relationships if we do not protect ourselves in prayer.  He wants to destroy what God stands for: peace, hope, love, and unity.  Start a new chapter in your life and join me on a journey to cleanse yourself and the ones you love from the hold that Satan has on you and on them.  This will be a slow process and you will need to continually seek God in prayer.  Don’t be alarmed if you blow it because you are human and with that comes weakness.  Satan is counting on your, and my, weakness so that we give up the “fight”.  My request to you is to stand firm on scripture and dont’ give the evil one a foothold into you lives.

Heavenly Gracious Father,  thank you for loving us so much that you sent your Son to die on a Cross for our forgiveness.  Help us to extend that forgiveness to the ones we love and to pray over them as they go through their day.  Renew a spirit of love and grace writhin us forgiving one another as you have forgiven us.  Amen

Hear Me

Micah 7:6-7 “For a son dishonorable his father, a daughter rises up against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mothe-in-law- a man’s enemies are the members of his won household.  Fut as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”

Ever wonder I God hears you?  Well, He says over and over in His word that he does.  It is a promise.  The problem with our human mind and promises is that promises that have been made to us have been broken so we attach that same logic to God and His promises.  Well, God does not lie and He does not break promises.  He does hear you and he does answer just not always like we want.  God has a great, amazing plan for every persons life.  The problem is that we don’t trust Him with our whole heart.

He is the creator of all things.  When we feel some lack, it is because we are focusing on our own will and what we can to do solve a problem.  God tells us over and over how much He loves us.  He sent his only Son to go to hell so that you can enter the gates of heaven and live with Him for eternity.  God tells us that we are offered and abundant life all we need to do is trust him with our pain, worries, anxiety, and thoughts.  When we focus on God and not our problems we can stop striving, and sit back and watch to see what God does.  He has already won the war we need to trust him with the battles.

Lord as I face today help me to focus on you not the battles but on the victory that you have already won for me and all those who believe and have given their life to You.  Walk beside me and all those I love opening our hearts and mind to you and your amazing plan for our lives, heal our hurts and unite us under your mighty hand.  I pray this in Jesus precious name. Amen

Come Sit

Isaiah 55: 8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My way,” declares the Lord.  “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Rest in the fact that your God is all knowing and all present.  In everything you do, say, or think, God is there guiding, listening, directing, and loving.  When we look at his word we realize that we are not meant to understand everything that is written in scripture.  As He explains his thought and ways are beyond what we can see, think, or imagine.  We are asked to trust and walk by faith.  There is no real explanation why some things happen we are just asked to site, rest, and trust.  Remember that no matter what has happened or will happen in your life you have a Heavenly Father who has the ultimate plan for your life.  Trust in him and his word.

Father, thank you for loving me and bringing me to this place of trust.  Help me to trust you with every moment of my life and know that you are in control and have a master plan.  Be with me as I walk in faith today and every day you have laid out before me.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen

1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s might hand that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

It is hard to understand what it means to “cast all your anxiety on him…” Because we don’t feel worthy of such love.  The amazing thing is you are right we are not worthy of such love but God through his son has offered it as a gift to each of us.  There is nothing that can separate us from his love.  We are given free will to love and walk with God or to turn and walk away.  No matter the choice God will continually place people and circumstances in our lives that will draw us closer to him.  Throughout God’s word he gives us promise after promise to never leave or forsake us.  God’s love is not a human love.  Our human love is fickle and dependent on someone else doing something.  We cannot place these limits on God for His love is not fickle it is never ending.  No matter what you face or have faced in your past release it to God for he cares for you and will heal your wounds, if you let him.  Release your anxieties on him, He created you.

Father, thank you for loving me and guiding me to this place in my life.  Your love and strength have been my guide.  Help me to release ALL my anxieties on You and protect me from the evil one as I step out in faith.  Amen

Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Life is full of challenges and challenging people.  At the end of a day often times I find myself emotionally drained.  I believe that is because our human love is ever so limited and draining.  God’s love is unlimited and full.  When we access God’s love in the midst of trials or dealing with difficult people there is a grace, strength and acceptance that one cannot explain.  That is because God’s love is never ending and will restore us with energy that has been lost.  “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened…” Are you weary and burdened?  Take heart and go to Jesus, He will give you strength to face today and deal with the pain of your yesterday’s.

Father, thank you for Your strength and love.  It is difficult for us in our humanity to understand limitless love.  Help me today to focus on the Love-Light that only you can provide.  Restore my energy and fill me with Your presence.  Amen

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.”

No matter what you do in life, once you accept Christ as your savior, He will work you mistakes into something beautiful. God gave us free will because without that we could not choose love. We are able to love because he first loved us. He also made us human knowing that we were going to make mistakes and mess up. God has a plan even when the world seems to fall apart around you and nothing seems to be going right remember that God is in control and we are not. That is good news because as humans we will mess it up.

Father, thank you for loving me and knowing where I am going to make mistakes. I am so grateful that you are in control of my life and helping me out of my messes. Continue to draw me into a deeper understanding and love for you. Amen

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

I find it interesting that my first instinct, when faced with a problem, is to rely on my own limited understanding and fix it.  Yet in scripture, Jesus tells us to pray over every situation with thanksgiving.  Really? I am asked to be thankful for trials and problems?  Yep.  When I am thankful for my problems and tills it releases me from the negative focus and turns my attention to God.  The problem then looses its grip on me and I am free to focus on what really matters in life, bringing joy, peace, love and kindness to those around me.

Remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood it is against evil forces in the spiritual realm.  When I remember that my battle is not against things I can touch and feel but against evil forces acting through those around me I remove the focus and am free to pray for healing and peace.

Father, as I face today with all of its challenges I ask you to come along side me and give me your peace.  I ask that you remind me that the battle is not mine but yours and you have already won.  Help me to release my anxieties, fears, and worries to you so I can be filled with the joy, peace and love that is found only in You.  Amen

2 Corinthians 1: 8-9 “We do not want you to be unformed, brothers and sisters, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.  Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death.  But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”

In the midst of hard times I often feel alone and as if no one can understand.  I have come to realize that no matter what happens in my life God is in control.  I may not like what He is doing in my life but I know that if I put my trust in Him I will make it through difficult times.  The strength to make it through hard times does not come from me, it is found in Christ my Lord.

Father, thank you for your promises of never leaving or forsaking me.  I know that no matter what I face in this life I will never be alone.  Sometimes I wonder where you are but I am grateful that you put people in my life to remind me that You are right next to me guiding my path.  Thank you for protecting me from self-reliance.  Amen
