Guard your mind

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer tot he pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to seat and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.” Ever notice how truly powerful your thoughts are? The power of the mind is an amazing thing. If we focus on negative things our whole outlook becomes negative. If we focus on positive things our outlook will be positive. If we focus on anxiety, anxiety will rule our actions. When we focus on positive things our outlook becomes positive. When we allow worry to become our focus we cannot find peace. As we walk this life we decide what our minds focus on and believe. Don’t let worry, anxiety, and fear become your idols. God wants to be the focus of your mind. Your Heavenly Father reads your mind and knows what is going on in your life. He cares on such an intimate level that nothing you do or think escapes His notice. Turn your heart to the One who brings peace. Father forgive me for not trusting you or seeking comfort in anything but You. I am Your child and I love and trust You. Walk with me reminding me that You are ever present and love me beyond measure. Turn my thoughts to You and guide my heart. Bring peace where there is strife, bring comfort to an anxious heart, bring clarity where there is chaos, and bring joy to a hurting soul. In Jesus Name, AMEN.

Still small voice

1 Peter 1:7-9 “These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is reveled. Thought you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with and inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” Faith like an education can not be taken away form you. We can choose to forget or walk away but some how it always come back to us like a flood. God knows just how weak we are and how much we struggle so He provided a way for us to be free. Free to live, love, and find favor. Our God is a god of action. He does not sit on the sidelines of our life and watch us struggle. He walks this life with us hand in hand. Actually, He lives in you guiding your thoughts and your actions; you just need to listen and feel His spirit stir in you. Let God work in you freeing your soul and challenging you to become a better person. Abba Father, I am sorry for the times I have turned from you and not listened to your still small voice. I want to be connected to you and able to hear you when you speak. Help me Father tho know when you are speaking to me, help me to rejoice in all things knowing that I am acting and walking according to your will in my life. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Refuge

John 14:1-2 “Do not let your hearts be troubled, trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house there are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.” Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust on the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.” Where do you turn when life gets crazy or when you feel overwhelmed? Do you isolate yourself, eat, watch tv, or consume things that are not healthy? We all have our “refuge” or place we go to hide but, God tells us to come home to Him. He has prepared a place for us, a place of security, love, and understanding. When we seek him instead of self gratification He can make our path straight. He tells us over and over “come to me all you who are weak and weary”. God knows that life is messy and we cannot walk this earth alone. Sit and dwell with Him for He and He alone will give you peace. Abba Father, I come to you to be restored and to soak in your love and mercy. Forgive this sinner for my sins are many and none of them are hidden from you. Thank you for being a refuge and a safe place for me. I ask that you walk with me today as I face the challenges of this day. Help me to not worry about tomorrow or the past for the past is gone and tomorrow is not here. Help me live for today for today has enough troubles. I give this day to you Lord and ask for your protection and blessings over this day, In Jesus Name, AMEN

John 16:33

John 16:33 ” I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” This seems like such a simple verse but in reality it is difficult to live by. I know that I live in a broken world filled with broken people, including myself. Living in this broken world we will not always see eye to eye but if we keep our eyes on Jesus we can find peace. In the middle of a storm God shows up. When your day seems to go totally wrong, God shows up. When you hear sorrowful news, God shows up. When things go your ways God shows up. When you are doing dishes, laundry, or even cooking dinner, God shows up. He is present in everything you do, look for him and you will be filled with His spirit. This spirit is unexplainable peace. Father, thank you for always being with me especially on the days where everything seems to go wrong. I am not worthy to be called you child yet you came to save me from myself. Help me to share You with those around me. Bring peace into the everyday area of my life and when anxiety rises help me to seek you. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Loving Father

Deuterononmy 33:27;”The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms,. He will drive out your enemy before you saying, “Destroy him!” Romans 8:39 “neither height nor depth, nor a dying else in all creation, will be ale to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Throughout scripture God tells us that we will not be destroyed and we can find peace in Him. When your world seems to be spinning out of control go to God. He is always there ready and waiting for you. In our lives we have seasons. When we are in a good season trust God he is bringing that peace after a trial but, don’t get complacent, God is continually growing us to be one with Him. Not everything that goes wrong in your life is because of Satan God is a Father who loves us and any good father also punishes their children for not following their commands. When we break God’s commands we must face the consequences of that choice. The difference is that my sin nor my poor choices define. I am defined by my faith in God, I am a child of God. Satan wants you to believe that you are defined by your mistakes. But you and I are defined by our faith in God because we are children of God. Gracious and loving Father, forgive me for the times I have turned my back on you. Forgive me for not listening to you and going my own way. I am so grateful that you love me and will never leave me nor forsake me no matter how many time I mess us. Thank you for being a Father who will ever leave me or forsake me. Help me today to walk in faith remembering that You are my Father. I am your child forever, In Jesus Name, AMEN

Seek Him

Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let the petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concern. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of you life.” Jeremiah 29:13 ” You will seek me and find me when you seek me wth all our heart.” Throughout scripture God tells us story after story about the faithful. One thing I noticed in reading some of their stories is how they didn’t worry but instead trusted God. When I start to worry I try to remind myself that worry will not add a single day to my life but instead PRAY. God has the power to change even the most difficult of circumstances. God, when we seek him, hears our voice. The amazing thing about God hearing our voice is that is does not have to be audible. When we cry out to him in our heart, mind, spirit, and/or soul He hears us. Which is why NOTHING you do is hidden from God. He knows your deepest fears, your deepest sins, your deepest worries but, more than that He has already forgiven you and made a path straight to Him. Seek Him and you WILL find him in the midst of whatever your struggles. Father in Heaven, nothing I do, say, or think, is hidden from your sight. Thank you for bringing healing to the darkest parts of my being. Father, everything I do is laid before you I have no secretes from you, you know my weaknesses and my strengths for you created me. Bring me ever closer to you as I walk in faith trusting you as my Father. When I begin to worry or feel anxious raise Your Holy Spirit within me and remind me that I am Your child. Protect me as I go forth in faith today casting my worries to you, In Jesus Name I pray, AMEN

Times of Trouble

2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Habakkuk 3:19 “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he make my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights.” Life does not always go as we plan in fact, most of the time my plans seem to fly out a window I didn’t know was open. It is in these times when it seems the most difficult to sit with God and trust Him. When nothing in your life seems to be going as “planned” remember that it is in these moments that God is preparing you, strengthening you, and, even though it may not feel like it, He is holding you. The trials in our lives, as difficult as it is sometimes, are the things that lead to blessings. There are countless stories in the Bible where the road to “glory” is paved with heartache and trials. Actually, I cannot think of one Bible story where there is not trial before peace. So, no matter what season you are currently in, peace or trial, know that: 1. You are not alone, 2. God loves you, 3. I love you 4. I am praying for you. Father, I come before you and ask for strength for today. Bring me Your peace as I go forth to be your hands and feet in this world. Help me to fix my eyes on you and not the things of this world, for the things of this world are temporary. Open my eyes and ears to You, the things that are eternal, and guide my path today. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Sleepless nights

Philippians 4:6-8 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” We have all had them, those sleepless nights where we replay words or actions over and over wondering if we could/should have done something different. It is in those times where it seems the most difficult to focus on the “praiseworthy” because we seem to be focused on the negative. God asks us to turn our requests over to Him and to focus on truth, pure, lovely, and admirable things. In everything and at all times, even when you are facing difficult circumstances, go to God. Present your requests to Him with thanksgiving, and He will give you a peace that surpasses all comprehension. He will guard your heart and mind. Satan wants to destroy anything good and comes to kill, steal, and destroy only we can give him the foothold into our lives. Go to God with your struggles don’t rely on your feelings, they can be deceiving. Father of Heaven and earth, You ask us to come to you in all things with a thankful heart and you will hear and answer. Thank you for being my rock and my strength in all circumstances. Father I come before you asking for your protection this day over my heart, mind, and will. Guard me from the evil one as I face today. Thank you for always being there, even in the midst of sleepless nights to hear my cry. Thank you for the challenges that bring me closer to you and remind me where my strength comes from. I love you Jesus, you are worthy to be praised. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Grab His Hand

Matthew 14:30 “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink cried out, “Lord, save me!” Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heaters and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Everyday of our lives we face challenges. Some of those challenges are like stepping over a bump in the road. Others, well lets just say that it is like a hole so deep you cannot see whether it sends. Through all of life’s challenges, twists, and turns fix your eyes on the maker of it all. No matter what challenges you are facing right now God has a plan for you, fix your eyes on Him and he will make your path straight. Just as Jesus reached out and saved Peter from sinking Jesus is there holding out His gracious hand to each of us, GRAB IT. Gracious, Loving Father, I need your help in this world. There are so many things pulling for my attention that I get overwhelmed and feel as if I am drowning. Help me to day to complete that tasks You have for me. Help me keep my focus on You and YOU ALONE. In Jesus Name, AMEN

Good Shepherd

John 10:14-15 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me – just as the Father knows me and I know the Father- and I lay down my life for the sheep.” John 10:27-30 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” If you are anything like me there are days when the alarm goes off and I just lay there thinking, “I am not ready to start my day.” What if, on those mornings, or every morning for that matter, we stopped and thought, “Thank you Lord for the adventure I will face today.” What a change of perspective. When we live our life for Christ there will never be a day that will be boring because our perspective will be totally different. I get to be a mom, wife, teacher, daughter, friend, etc. Each of our roles is a gift. Every person we come into contact with is a gift from God. When we meet that difficult circumstance or person, ask God, “What am I suppose to learn form this?” Everything that happens in our lives is part of God’s great design even when bad things happen God will guide our hearts and minds to find joy and peace in the midst of difficult times. Enjoy your life adventure, who knows where it will lead and whose life you will impact for Christ. Father of Heaven and Earth, thank you for being my guide. Thank you for everything in my life. Help me to see all my days as an adventure for you. You say in your word that you are our Shepherd, the job of a shepherd is to gather, care, lead, and move their flock (sheep). All throughout scripture you are called, “The Good Shepherd” and Lord I trust you with my life please be my Shepherd and guide my heart and mind throughout today and all the days to come.
