Ephesians 1:5 “In love, He predestined us to be adopted as his sons and daughters through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will…”
Oh to be loved and cared for, this is the need of every human being. God created each of us with the desire to belong and to be loved. Yet, we often feel that we are not good enough. We put on masks to be accepted by others. We feel as if we need to hide our true selves to be loved. God tells us that in not the case.
Bring your brokenness and your pain to the cross. God loves you just the way you are. Take off your mask and sit with your Heavenly Father. He is waiting with His arms open wide. He adopted you with all your flaws, heartache, and mistakes and loves you dearly.
Father, Thank you for adopting me just the way I am and for loving me through all my challenges. Continue to strenghten me and guide me to be the loving carefree child you have created me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.”
At one time in my life I thought no matter what I asked of God He would give it me. I would go in confidence to Him so I knew He heard me. The problem, I was not asking according to His will I was asking acccording to my wants and desires.
When we are asking God to lead, we need to trust Him to lead. Whe we go before our King we need to remember that He is omnipresent, the Alpha and the Omega, He Knows what we need before we even ask. When we come to Him and our motives are not in-line with His, He hears us, but it ay not life up with His will. These are the times we need to be willing to listen for His words of wisdom, grace, and mercy. The human flesh is weak, but with Christ we are made strong. Go before God with your needs and remember to seek His wisdom, knowledge, and will for your life. Have confidence that God will work in your life to give you the “riches” of your heart.
Father, thank you for saving me from the desires of my flesh and giving me the wisdom to hear You. I come before You broken and incomplete; You make be whole and beautiful. Thank you that I can come to you with confidence seeking my hearts desire knowing that You will point me in the right directions according to the loving and perfect plan You have for my life. Cover me today, giving me clarity and wisdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 1:5 “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”
The world continually bombards us with information that is disheartening and disturbing. We hear of all the negative in the world, from school shootings to the bombing in Austin, Tx, and the wars that rage around the world. How are we supppse to find any joy and peace with so much negativity? We need to unplug and get intro our Word to find our peace in Christ. We will not overcome this world without a Savior.
Papa, thank you for sending your Son so that in this crazy mixed up world I can find joy, peace, and love. Help me to focus on Youas I walk through today. Bring me a peace that transcends all understanding and is only found in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 4:21 “…Whoever loves God must also love his brother.”
When we are hurt by someone, that hurt can be big or small it makes no difference, a wound is left. Each person has a choice of what to do with that wound. We can either pick at the wound by keeping it alive or forgive and allow the wound to heal. Depending on the hurt it may leave a scar and the size of that sacra will depend. Once the wound is healed the scar is a reminder but it has no power over your life anymore. Isaiah 53:5 “..by his wounds we are healed.” Allow Christ’s love to heal you, find peace in forgivness, and allow the love of God to live in and through you.
Papa, there are some hurts that run so deep it is hard to find forgiveness. Help me seek you and the freedom that comes when I am able to forgive. I want Your love to engulf me, fill me, and free me. Heal me Lord, from the inside out. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.”
If we could get a hold of God’s prefect love, imagine what we could do. God’s perfect love casts out fear. We would no longer be afraid to truly love others, visit foreign countries to lend a helping hand, share Christ’s love, or be afraid of what people think about you. We believe that God is THE provider yet we still stress about how things will get paid or if we “have enough”. When you feel fear rise up try praying our verse for today. (Father, send your love to drive out my fear, bring Your peace into my heart mind and soul.)
Father, when I face a fear or feel fear rising up remind me to seek Your kingdom for strength. Release my fears to You. Father, Come by Your Spirit and cover me with Your love, driving out all fear, bring comfort and peace in its place. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 4:13 “We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.”
The amazing thing about God’s gift of love is that it on ly takes one thing…belief in The Son, Jesus. The day you accept Christ as your savior He gave you his Spirit, that still small voice that guides you. The thing about that voice is that you need to listen to it. Having a conversation takes two people and God calls us to walk with him, to do that, we need to be in constant connection with Him. This connection comes in many ways, a hug from a friend, reading God’s word, prayer, and so much more. Allow God to flow through you today and everyday. Allow Him to love you through your brokenness.
Papa, thank you for opening my heart to the love You have for me. There is so much in this world that draws for my attention, help me to hear Your still small voice in the midst of the cymbals playing all around me. Father, protect me and all those closest to me from the evil that calls so loudly, drown out that craziness with Your love. “Perfect love casts our fear” (1 John 4:18) so, fill me with Your perfect love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 4:12 “No one has ever see God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”
It is so hard for us to accept that we are worth loving just because of who we are. We do everything to try to fit in, be accepted, and ultimately be loved. Why is it so hard to believe that we are worth loving? Why is it so hard to believe that God could love and forgive us?
We place earthly principles on God. We have to earn love here on earth. We feel we have to earn the love of our spouse, our families, friends, and co-workers in order to be acccepted, but with Chirst He gives it freely. He loves us despite everything we have done or will do and that is so hard for our human minds to comprehend. What if we stopped putting limits on God’s love and learned to accept it for what it is a gift and then spread that gift to those we encourager?
Father, I am sorry for putting limits on Your love for me. help me to accept Your gift and to allow it to flow through me to all those I encounter today. Help me to hear Your voice throughout my day to remind me of the love You have for me. Make Your love complete in me by helping me to love those around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 4:6 “We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.”
What spirit are you listening to as you go through your day? Is the spirit of pride, regret, fear, or unworthiness controlling your life? What if the Spirit of love, joy, peace, and contentment controlled your life, would it look different? Stop and look at what you are following, is it truth or falsehood?
Father, it is not easy to follow the Spirit. Some days it is hard to live filled with joy, love, peace ad contentment. Help me recognize the false spirits that are controlling my life so that I can live the life You intend filled with LOVE, JOY, PEACE, AND CONTENTMENT. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 4:1 “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
Ever wonder what life would be like if we could truely love not only others but ourselves? What your relationships would be like if we lived in the garden of Eden before “the fall”? If only love like that was possible here on Earth.
We live in a world where we need to test the spirits that come our way. Being connected with Christ makes testing the spirits easier because Satan and his minions cannot stay where there is prayer. Some evil spirits are harder to get rid of but all will eventually flee. Stay connected because Christ is stronger than anything you will face.
Father, thank you for coming down to save me and to have a relationship with me. Father, I know that I am loved because You love me. Because of Your love I can love others. Help me today to be a conduit for love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
1 John 3:21-22 “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.”
Sometimes in life we feel so lost, we do’t know where to turn fo help or clarity. God tells us to come to Him yet, this seems to be the last place we go. We try desperately to “fix” things ourselves ad when that doesn’t work we finally go to God. What would your life be like if you made a habit of going to Christ when life gets you down or you get frustrated? When we go to God with our requests it pleases Him because it shows a relationship of trust ad love. So, go to God today with anything and everything through prayer and petition.
Papa, thank you for loving me and being with me no matter what I do or say. Help me to come to You with confidence and to receive from You all that I ask according to Your will for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
