Isaiah 50:10 “Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him wo walks in the dark, wo has no light, trust int he name of the LORD and rely on his God.”
We all want to be remembered for something. We want to leave our mark on the world. What if your “mark” is just a simple one? What if you were meant to be remembered as a good person, one who gave selflessly to otherS? Is there something wrong with that?
When we fear the Lord, we live a life that is pleasing to Him. I don’t know about you but I don’t what to live a life that pleases man because man dies. I want to live a life pleasing to my Heavely Father. To live a life pleasing to God I must carry His light. Carrying His light is not easy because we try to do things our way. If we would just put our focus on Him carrying His light to the world would be a peace filled life.
Father, Help me put my selfish ways aside and to carry Your light into the dark places of this ice. Father You have put me where I am give me the strength and encouragement to walk the path You have laid before me. I want to trust you with my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
Mark 1:35 “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
No one can give of themselves all the time. We all need to be refueled. That refueling looks different for everyone. For some they become refueled by running, others ride a bike, still others read a book. Whatever that looks like for you, take the time to be refueled because if you don’t you will become a frustrated person never seeing the positive in your life. These things give us energy to keep going, however true refueling comes from spending time with God. Escape can come through a long walk, bike ride, time at the gym, or working on a hobby. Just remember that to face the challenges of life we not only need physical strength, we need spiritual strength. Even Christ had to refuel. He spent time walking with God. Christ knew that no matter what He would face He could do it because God was His strength.
Father, thank you for the reminder that it is ok to do things for myself, by myself. Thank you for the strength You give when I spend time with You. When I feel weak and weary draw me to You and refuel me. Remind me when I walk alone I quickly become frustrated and angry but with You all things are possible. You give my life meaning and allow me to face the challenges each and everyday so I can do Your will. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
2 Samuel 22:29 “You, LORD are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light.”
Just the other day I needed an herb from my garden. I walked out to get what I needed and realized that I could not see where I was going, due to the darkness. So, I walked back inside to get a light. Any light would do, the light became my guided to keep me away from anything that might cause me harm. God is the same way with our life. When we allow God to shine into our lives he sheds light on things that will harm us. Just as I had to look for a light to guide me, we need to seek God every moment of every day so He can shed light on the path that lays before us.
Father, Thank you for being my light. On days when nothing seems to go right and I just want to crawl back into bed, You are there to be my strength and my guide. You Heavenly Father light my path. Come this day Holy Spirit and light a fire in my heart for you. Be my guide and walk with me and keep me from stumbling. Father, be my lamp and keep me from darkness. In Jesus Name, Amen
Psalm 90:3-6 “You turn people back to dust, saying, ‘Return to dust, you mortals.’ A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.”
Life seems so crazy sometimes. We often rush from on thing to the next, never really taking time to look around and spend quality time with loved ones. We rush here and there, why has life become about what we can cram into one day rather than enjoying family and friends?
Life really is short. How many of us will live to be 1,000 years old? The closest we can come is about 100. That according to scripture is not even a blink for God. We spend so much time running around like chickens rather than enjoying the time we have been given here on Earth. Live is too short to worry about things we have no business trying to control in the first place. Enjoy you time with family and friends and don’t let the little things you find irritating pull you away form the love, peace, joy, and blessings God wants for you life.
Father, as we approach the coming Christmas season help me remember the reason You came. You don’t want me to run here and there You call me to sit with You and remember that You put me where You want me when You want me there. Help me to relax and enjoy family knowing that one day they will not be with me on this earth, but the time spent with them will become blessings beyond measure. In Jesus Name, Amen
Psalm 107:8-9 “Let us give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
It is amazing to me how quickly we forget our answered prayers. Things we pray for over and over, then God finally answers and we just keep moving on as if our requests were not heard. Sure we say praise God, then what? Do we continue to praise Him or do we move to the next thing that troubles us? In this season of thanksgiving I find myself thinking of all the answered prayers. God is so good. Check the attitude of your heart, is it one of gradititude or is it filled with anger and frustration? When we focus on the negative, or unanswered prayers, our heart is no longer reflecting the love of Christ instead, we are reflecting an attitude of selfishness.
Come to Christ and be filled daily with His love. When you do this you will no longer focus on what you don’t have instead He will change your heart and fill it with His good things.
Father, thank you for all the prayers you have answered over the years. When I get stud I in my negative thinking fill me with Your living water that reminds me of all that You have done for me. Father, change my attitude and let me reflect the love that You have for me and for all Your children. I hunger for Your wisdom, grace, love, and joy. Fill this dry soul and bring it alive in You. In Jesus Name, Amen
Ephesians 4:26-27 “In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are till angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Anger is a natural emotion. We all get angry for one reason or another. Often times our anger comes when we feel wounded or judged. The key is to not sin in our anger.
We need to remember that God gave us our emotions so anger itself is not a sin. We sin when we don’t forgive the hurt. None of us live a perfect life. We sometimes speak out of hurt or anger. This action is not justified nor should it be common practice, but there are certain things that cause us to be triggered. A trigger reminds us of an event from our past that caused hurt or pain. When someone we love says or does something, unintentional, it may trigger a response deep in our core. We all have them; it is what we do when we are triggered that makes all the difference.
When you feel the anger or irritation rising inside, each of us needs to learn to self-soothe. Remember that the people you choose to hang out with and love don’t intentionally hurt you. If they do, you need to find new healthier relationships. God does not tell us that anger is a sin but, He does warn us not to sin in our anger. He also reminds us to seek forgiveness before we go to sleep because the longer we sit in our hurt the stronger the foothold of devil. This unfortunately causes relationships to end because the evil one begins to build walls to separate people and destroy relationships. Don’t let him destroy your relationship; talk out your problems and seek forgivenss.
Father, thank you for the gift of relationships and for love. Father, living with people can be difficult especially when we are hurt. Help me seek forgivness where I have hurt another especially those I love the most. Help me to forgive even when others don’t seek forgiveness. Father, I don’t always have the words to express how I feel or when I am hurting, give me the words to speak to clearly express my pain and sorrow. Teach me to hold me tongue when I am hurt and allow grace to shine through in my life. In Jesus Name, Amen
Isaiah 35:4 “…’Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.’”
The climb was slow and steady. I felt as if I would never reach the top. My body became weak and weary, I wanted to give up. Out of no where I felt the amazing strength. The strength to keep going and live another day.
The path we walk In this life we do not walk alone. There are times when you might feel lost and alone. It is in those times when Christ shows us in the simplest of ways: a smile from a friend, a text message, an amazing sky painting, the list could go on. Chirist is with each of us as I walk through the valley. There is to beauty on th either side, keep walking Christ is with you. Rely on His strength and you will one day see His glorious hand as you walked through the valley of the shadows.
Father in Heaven, You are gracious and loving. You are my strength when I have none. You are my guide when I am lost, You are my comforter when times are hard. You alone are my King. Let Your kingdom rain down on me this day and give me what I need to live today side by side with You. Protect me against evil spirits that want to draw me away from you. Help me to show grace to others. Strengthen me with Your mighty hand. In Jesus Name, Amen
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you: do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and hep you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Let me love you, I hear the Lord say. Come to me in your weakness and I will give you strength. You are broken and I will heal you. Be still and know that I am your God, your strength, and your shelter when the storms of life come. Come rest to me and rest in my arms for I am your comforter and healer.
Do you ever just feel overwhelmed by life? God tells us to come to him in our brokenness, pain, worry, and our hurting. He is our strength in times of trouble. He has come to seek and save the lost. So, do you feel lost today? Do not fret, he is waiting to hold you. His arms are open ready to hold and comfort you. He is the healer of broken relationships, broken hearts, and a mender of souls. No matter what you face today He has a plan and not just any plan, a perfect plan. So, run into your Father’s arms and find comfort, healing, and best of all love.
Papa, I am so grateful to know that I am never alone. In the midst of the storms of life you are right there with open arms. In your arms I can find comfort and healing. Allow me to sit with you today. Speak to me and draw me closer to you. Change me Lord and make me more like you. In Jesus Name, Amen
Matthew 7:3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
It is often difficult to look under the hood of our hearts to see what is really going on in our lives. It seems so easy to look at someone else and find their shortcomings or faults, especially those we are with everyday. When we find fault in others we, according to scripture, we have a criticism problem. This means that we are quick to find fault in others.
When criticism lives in our hearts we cannot walk in freedom with The Spirit. This is how the evil begins to devour and control out lives. A critical spirit comes to kill and destroy anything that is good and pleasing to the Lord. This spirit takes a kind act and turns into an irritation, destroying the goodness behind it. It is amazing how a driver on the road, that you don’t even known, can make this critical spirit rise us within. As you become aware of this spirit begin to pray that God would replace it with His fruits of joy, peace, love, and self-control.
Gracious and Loving Father, I praise you for what you are doing in my life. Father, open my eyes to the critical places in my heart. Do not allow the evil one to invade my relationships. Where he already has a foothold break those chains and free me to see You and Your love. Replace any critical spirit with Your Spirits of “…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22) In Jesus Name, Amen
Proverbs 12:25 “Anxiety weights down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.”
Our world seems to be falling apart. Everywhere we look there is a new threat. People shot while driving their cars or worshiping in their church, it is hard not to become worried or anxious.
Throughout scripture God tells us not to be anxious or worried. In a world that is being “given over to itself” we need to come together and breathe life into the world as Christ followers. Allow Christ to shine through you into this broken world by using kind words. Our words can bring healing, joy, love, and peace:; be aware because our words can also bring fear, anxiety, and pain.
When you don’t know what to say, pray. God will give you the words that are needed for whatever situation you find yourself. Allow God to use you. Ask yourself, “Jesus, what are you doing in this situation, I want to join you.” Remember that you are joining Jesus on His mission not the other way around.
Father, thank you for always being my guide. Forgive me for the times I don’t listen to you and go off on my own. Help me to find strength in knowing that you are with me guiding me. Father, take away any fear and anxiety that I have. I want to walk in peace with you. Papa, guide me today and give me words that bring kindness and healing to those around me. In Jesus Name, Amen
