Be Careful

Luke 16:25-26 “But Abraham said to him, ‘Son, remember that during our lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish. And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.'”

When you look around, what do you see? Do you see the blessings from God, even amid pain and heartache, or do you focus on what others have and become envious? We live in a world filled with material objects, and we long to have more and more, but when we die, God does not see material things; He sees hearts. Learning to praise God during pain, heartache, and lack brings peace over you that no material possession can.

God warns us to live for Him and not for the things of this world. We are all given the same choice; to put our faith in God or not. God numbers our days, and someday every number will be called, leading us into eternity; what will you choose? Material things do not go with you upon death, but faith and trust in God will bring an eternity of love, joy, peace, and comfort.

Gracious, loving Father, Prince of Peace, Lord of lords, lover of my soul, I boldly come before your throne thanking you for the blessings in my life. Father, every day is a gift from you, and today I ask for your hand upon me as I live to please you, not man. Father, open my eyes to see what You want me to see, fill me with gratitude, and open my eyes to areas to see what You see. Help me today to live in Your presence. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
